Career and Technical Education
Career Technical Education (CTE) provides students of all ages with the academic and technical skills, knowledge and training necessary to succeed in future careers and to become lifelong learners. In total, about 12.5 million high school and college students are enrolled in CTE across the nation.
Career Clusters and Cluster Completers
All NC CTE courses align to the Career Clusters™. Each course is placed in a Career Cluster based on a set of knowledge and skills common to all careers in the entire Career Cluster. Industry-validated knowledge and skills statements of student expectations identify what the student should know and be able to do. They prepare students for success in a broad range of occupations/career specialties. Some CTE courses cross over all 16 Career Clusters™.

In order for a student to be a completer a student must take at least four technical credits from a career cluster.  At least three of the technical credits must come from the Foundational Courses with at least one of the Foundational Courses at the completer level ().  The fourth technical credit may be either a Foundational or Enhancement Course.

Career and Technical Student Organizations
Career and Technical Education Student Organizations (CTSO) provide unique opportunities for students to receive vocational education support designed to enhance school-based and work-based learning. To centralize the on-going efforts of LEA's, OSSE has established state level chapters for nine state approved CTSO's.  Below you will find all the CTSOs available to CTE students in Carteret County.
